Today most cities use zoning planning which is, the city divided into operations or activities. Moreover separated areas are used predominantly for business or entertainment traditional urban planning is responsible for the urban sprawling where people have to travel a long distance across the city to get to their destination. The first person who talked about 15 min city concept is Carol Moreno, scientific director and professor specialing in complex systems and innovation at the university of Paris.

The 15-minute city is a residential urban concept in which most daily necessities can be accomplished by either walking or cycling, from residents' homes. It means this concept is developed consolidating the transit-oriented development, which promotes denser, mixed-use development around the public transport services and pedestrianisation, revving a large-scale shift away from reliance on private motor vehicles. The most significant benefit of this concept is reducing carbon emissions by decreasing the use of cars and motorised community time.

It leads to developing a sense and convenience in the community by promoting local community engagement. Outdoor public spaces, low traffic congestion, and enhanced livability of the neighbourhood will be encouraged by this concept. This concept creates local commercial spaces, which uplift local buying and equality in living structures and professional opportunities. Along with that, the multicultural community acceptance act as a pillar for resilient living.

Moreover, it reaches the stability to face pandemics like COVID - 19. With the restrictions to travel, people may find it difficult to supply their needs, such as food, health, leisure and sanitary products. The shorter distance to travel to buy goods and open spaces will help to achieve the lifestyle of "go local" and re-discover their neighbourhood.
